Academic Program
NEW Academy currently serves 235 students enrolled in grades K-5. Grades K, 1, and 4 are located at the
Villa Mariposa site, and grades 2, 3, and 5 are located at the Casa Loma site. The academic program at
NASA is comprised of a standards-based curriculum that places a strong emphasis on science and the arts.
We implement the Character Counts! framework across our curriculum to help students develop good
character in accordance with the program's Six Pillars of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness,
Caring, and Citizenship.
Based upon the needs of our student population, NASA also offers a transitional bilingual program in which
academic content is primarily taught in Spanish in grades K and 1, while grades 2-5 are taught primarily in
English. Spanish language support is provided in all classrooms, with the goal that all students will become
bilingual, biliterate citizens who are proud of their heritage, and ready to embrace a culturally diverse world.
