Ms. Cachú, Third Grade B
Teaching has been part of my professional life for the past ten-plus years. My
educational training is in Culture Studies and Latin American Studies, which led me to
examine world cultures, politics, art, healing, activism and ultimately a Masters in
Teaching at Occidental College. I have had the opportunity to work in various school
settings as well as in museum education. I believe the role of a teacher is a privileged
position that would allow me to use my personal experiences, language skills and the
arts in the classroom to teach our diverse population.

From 1998 through 1999, I was a photography instructor for youth, at the William
Reich Photography Center, located in the Los Angeles Mac Arthur Park community. I
have worked at Thomas Starr King Middle School as a one-on-one tutor and as a
Teacher’s Assistant for Camino Nuevo Charter School. Also, I was a Gallery Educator
and an Outreach Educator for the Autry Museum, where I traveled and taught
California Mission History to 4th graders throughout Los Angeles County.
Furthermore, I was the Lead Museum Educator at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, where
I lead museum tours, art workshops and co-wrote lesson-plans (CA State Standard
appropriate) for museum educators. At the Fowler Museum, I designed and led
various lessons and interactive activities that emphasize diversity, co-existence,
tolerance and respect. Additionally, my student teaching experience at Eagle Rock
Elementary taught me, first hand, about planning, time management, class
management and differentiating for various learning styles and needs.

Today, my biggest goal and dream is to be part of the learning community that has
inspired me to be what I am today. As a teacher, I know I will face many challenges, but
due to my own personal experiences and training I will face them with courage strength
and love.
